Hainanese Chicken Rice is a classic and famous dish where you can find in every corner of Singapore, from hawker centres to high-end restaurants. It is also known as one of the Singapore’s national dishes.

When comes to Hainanese Chicken Rice, you must not miss the all-famous Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice (Tian Tian). Tian Tian is well known among the locals and tourists. In 2013, Tian Tian beats celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay in the SingTel Hawker Heroes Challenge and listed in inaugural 2016 Michelin Guide Singapore. Food celebrity Anthony Bourdain also commented Tian Tian’s rice – “Chicken rice is so fragrant and delicious that it can be eaten on its own”. Since then, Maxwell Food Centre has been flooded by tourists from around the world just for a plate of Tian Tian’s chicken rice.

If you’re coming with a group of friends, you may consider to order half a chicken or a full chicken to share. Alternatively, you can order individual set and other side dishes to go along with. Long queue is expect if you’re visiting during peaks hours at Maxwell Food Centre, as its located in the city centre. Less crowd is observed in other branches but location wise may not be convenient for tourists.

Tian Tian’s chicken rice (steamed / roasted chicken) serves with its rich chicken stock gravy is so flavourful and compelling. The chicken is so succulent and you can literally feel the chicken melts in your mouth. It costs SGD $3.50 for a plate of chicken rice, which is very reasonable for its decent portion and quality.

Some tourists commented that your trip is incomplete if you have not tried Tian Tian’s chicken rice. So, make sure you do not miss this!
